CODE OF ETHICS AND PRACTICE                                                                                                 HOME

I hold myself in the practice of homeopathy to the following ethical principles and also the Code of Ethics and Practice of the Irish Society of Homoepaths.

The mental and physical welfare of each patient is of prime consideration.  I agree with my patient their aims and priorities for homeopathic treatment.

I respect each and every patient.  I will not engage in verbal, physical or sexual abuse of any patient.

I practice homoeopathy within the limits of my training and competence.

I consult with the patient’s medical practitioner(s) for the benefit of the patient’s health and safety and only when the patient consents to this happening.

I do not advise my patients to discontinue taking prescribed medication or medical treatment without consulting their own General Practitioner.

I establish and maintain proper records necessary to a professional practice. I record the outcomes of assessments completely and accurately in a way which would allow other practitioners to take forward the treatment if this was necessary.  I record the rationale for the remedy chosen and give information on how to take the remedy.

If a patient or patient wishes to move their care to another homeopath or health professional, I will provide a summary of their case and treatment if requested.  A nominal fee will be charged to cover photocopying and postage.

I will not release any information to anyone without a written authorisation from my patient, except as provided for by law or in the case of a dangerous situation the information may assist in the prevention of possible injury to the patient.

Charges for my services are obtained from my website or over the phone.  Concessions are provided for old age pensioners, students and the unemployed.  I will give a months notice to existing patients if there is any change in fees.  Receipts are provided on request.

I do not disseminate false or exaggerated claims regarding homeopathy but shall attempt whenever possible to inform and educate the public on homoepathy.

I maintain a professional demeanour towards other professions regarding divergent views on homeopathy.

All advertising shall be factually presented in a professional and ethical way consistent with accepted standards.
